Assessing Conservation Potential of Streams for Spikedace and Loach Minnow Using Species Distribution Modeling

چکیده

Abstract Identifying, evaluating, and prioritizing freshwater systems for conservation is a persistent challenge managers tasked with recovery of native fishes. We used historical records from the Gila River basin, national hydrography data set, Random Forest modeling to predict probability Spikedace Meda fulgida Loach Minnow Rhinichthys cobitis occurrence throughout their range in basin. Models both species performed moderately well, relatively high predicted at streams records. Predicted was also several without focal species, suggesting that there are unoccupied reaches basin similar environmental conditions historically occupied species. Unoccupied highest may have greater chance supporting translocated populations Our results can be as first step locating most likely support within respective ranges. approach applicable other concern available historic need population restoration.

Quantitative PCR Assays for Detecting Loach Minnow (Rhinichthys cobitis) and Spikedace (Meda fulgida) in the Southwestern United States

Loach minnow (Rhinichthys cobitis) and spikedace (Meda fulgida) are legally protected with the status of Endangered under the U.S. Endangered Species Act and are endemic to the Gila River basin of Arizona and New Mexico. Efficient and sensitive methods for monitoring these species' distributions are critical for prioritizing conservation efforts. We developed quantitative PCR assays for detecti...

development of different optical methods for determination of glucose using cadmium telluride quantum dots and silver nanoparticles

a simple, rapid and low-cost scanner spectroscopy method for the glucose determination by utilizing glucose oxidase and cdte/tga quantum dots as chromoionophore has been described. the detection was based on the combination of the glucose enzymatic reaction and the quenching effect of h2o2 on the cdte quantum dots (qds) photoluminescence.in this study glucose was determined by utilizing glucose...

Species distribution modelling of invasive alien species; Pterois miles for current distribution and future suitable habitats

The present study aims to predict the potential geographic distribution and future expansion of invasive alien lionfish (Pterois miles) with ecological niche modelling along the Mediterranean Sea. The primary data consisted of occurrence points of P. miles in the Mediterranean and marine climatic data layers were collected from global databases. All the used models run 100% su...
